The Average American Working Class Citizen is being ripped off by Congress. As a concerned citizen, I have been writing letters to Congress for many years. I have come to the conclusion that my letters are ineffective and most of them likely end up in the circular file. I do receive the occasional response, typically a politely written justification for the representative’s political bias. Politicians are basically dishonest and dishonorable. Politicians have no interest in the American people, but instead they serve the highest bidder. I have decided to launch this blog out of frustration with our corrupt plutocracy.
That said, I believe that nothing will change until the average citizen in the country voices their opposition to the waste and corruption in Washington. I have to question why so many folks are not upset about our failed democracy. We are no longer represented in Congress but instead those who pay for influence are the only ones who get representation at the table in Congress. Please speak your mind to your representatives. Demand that they be held accountable for their deplorably irresponsible and corrupt actions. My hope is that this blog will become a more visible message to Congress that they are dishonest, corrupt and cowardly for the most part. I like to believe there are some honest folks in Congress, but honesty and politics are like oil and water.
“When they call the roll in the Senate, the Senators do not know whether to answer ‘Present’ or ‘Not Guilty’.”
—Theodore Roosevelt
I was raised in a liberal family with a Democratic leaning. I have come to the unfortunate conclusion that both sides of the aisle in Washington are equally corrupt and ineffective. Our Congress serves only those wealthy interests who have paid for influence and inequitable laws favoring the wealthy without regard for the common man. We the American working class deserve better. Speak out. Anger is appropriate and warranted. Contact your representatives. Be honest but blunt…tell your representatives the truth about your lives. Only when we all stand for our rights will Congress begin to listen. And of course vote. Most important…speak your mind.
This blog is intended to provoke thought and outrage at our corrupt government. Like Peter Lynch in the movie Network, I am mad as hell and am not going to take it anymore!
Please check back from time to time as this blog will evolve of time. Of course many of the opinions are solely my own, though I am quoting some articles that I find compelling as well. I hope you find the blog informative as well as entertaining. I am illustrating the blog with some clever political humor to add a bit of levity to a rather bleak outlook on our failing democracy.
